According to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com, the Mets and 2B Luis Castillo are inching closer to agreeing on a four-year, $25 million contract.
...Castillo just got surgery on his knees which he has had pain in over the past few years. But, four years with those knees will be a struggle. The Mets were rumored to really want David Eckstein and I do think that would be the best possible option for them. Though, Castillo can lay down a great bunt and move Reyes into scoring position which is deadly to the opposition. The Mets just felt that Ruben Gotay can not handle the 2b job and that David Eckstein wanted the same kind of deal. They also did not want to trade for a Orlando Hudson, who is the second-basemen on the Arizona Diamondbacks, for a Aaron Heilman. Obviously, the Mets felt this is the best situation and they should capitalize on it. Lets just see what happens....
