Castillo Re-signs

The New York Mets have re-signed Luis Castillo to a 4 year deal worth 25 million dollars. Castillo was one of the only highlights of the second half of last year and the Mets were eager to bring him back to play second base. However the Mets encountered obstacles because many teams were searching to fill their secondbase vacancy.

...I was a supporter of getting Luis Castillo during the trade deadline and re-signing him during the off-season. We already know he plays very well with Jose Reyes and can hit very well as a number two hitter in the lineup. The only scary thing about this signing is that Castillo has very bad knees. Throughout the entire second half of the season last year he was playing with his bad knees which might not have been the best thing for him. Although he has bad knees he recently underwent knee surgery to repair his left and right knees. Hopefully they are back to new because he could definetly be a major asset to the team this coming season. The only other downside to signing Castillo to a long term contract is the Ruben Gotay will not be able to prove that he can play and he wont be able to blossom into the type of player he can become...
